This multi-award-winning new build property serves as a perfect example of how smart home technology can work in harmony with modern interior design.
Featured in SVI magazine, winner of several industry awards, and shortlisted for many more, including The Sunday Times British Homes Awards, this £10+ million residential property development saw Pro Install AV working with a top London interior designer to integrate smart home technology which enhanced the lives of the end customers.
The brief asked for a smart-home set-up with home cinema features which could be adapted for both entertainment and daily family living. This had to be done without dedicating a separate space for the home cinema that would otherwise remain empty when not in use.

Bespoke Home Cinema Design
Based on past experience, Pro Install AV had the perfect solution in mind to meet this need for a flexible home cinema design that didn’t compromise valuable living space.
The answer was a state-of-the-art projector screen on a lift which could be brought down when needed, and hidden out of view when it wasn’t.
A pre-designed lighting scene was set which bathed the viewing area in delicate, low-level blue hues, creating the ideal ambiance for a relaxing night with a good movie.
That movie -or other content type- could be easily selected from a number of sources, either by touching a button or swiping a touchscreen. The same controls could then be used to turn off the content, hide the screen, and raise the lights again, returning the room into a vibrant, modern family area.
Crestron Control
One of the biggest objectives with this project, was to integrate smart home technology which complemented -rather than distracted from- the interior design.
Products had to blended in effortlessly with the decor and layout of any given space, and to achieve that aim, Pro Install AV knew that Crestron was the best possible solution.
Our team of home automation installers used a Crestron control system to manage every aspect of the entire property, from accessing content via the multi-room audio visual set-up to changing the light settings and accessing security.
State-of-the-art Home Security
This process was particularly essential to get right, and again, the Crestron system really came into its own here. Thanks to compatibility with other leading security systems, Pro Install AV were able to use this technology to allow the property owners to check CCTV feeds from any display in the property, and even access those same feeds remotely when they’re away from the property.
Integrated door control technology, and lighting scenes which can be loaded remotely to stimulate occupancy when nobody is home were also including in the security system.
Energy Saving Home Automation
Intelligent lighting control and motorised blinds were used to not only ensure the property looks at its most radiant best at all times, but also to conserve energy.
At the click of a button, lights, as well as all non-essential features such as AV equipment, can be powered down, and pre-set triggers can be used to ensure that the heating powers up and the lights turn on as family begin to return home after a day at work.
Easy to Manage
Despite all the advanced technology, the client stressed the importance of making sure the new home automation and home cinema system was very easy to use. This was another key factor in choosing Crestron, which allowed the users to access their entire system via an app on their own tablet and smartphone devices, as well as through in-wall touchpanels.
